These are only indexes, but should contain enough information to find your family member.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1TMBeQPHdgKdGvyAeTWaxBS1b6WNloync\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1858 Tax Sale<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 Notice is hereby given that the following described lands were sold by the County treasurer of Wood County on the 11th and 12th days of May, 1859, for the taxes and charges thereon for the year 1858.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/cemeteries\/\">Cemeteries<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 These names and dates were derived from stone reading, Cemetery, Church, and Courthouse records, with better dates from the SSI and obits.&nbsp; Many of the early records are missing or incomplete as registration was not mandatory before 1907. We apologize for any discrepancies in the spelling of names, and some of the death dates from the old records were burial not death dates. This is an index to help you find your family members, and to direct you to the location of residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/census\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1223\">Census<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/wood-county-church-project\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1232\">Church Project<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/civil-war\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1234\">Civil War<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 Soldiers names from various sources in Wood County<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/wood-county-communities-project\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1236\">Communities Project<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1st3NDc50vrikT7-oEtienuV3iTsdh7IU\/view?usp=sharing\">Early Biographies<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 These families are derived from the early 1881 History of Northern Wisconsin, Yellow River Pioneers and Saratoga Sands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/birth-records\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1250\">Early Births<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 From early to 1914 as required by claw, At least 100 years old. including the social security applicants request for a birth record. Vol 1- 15 and Vol 63 &amp; 64. \u201cThis information is not a legal vital record index. Inclusion of any information does not constitute legal verification of the fact of the event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/early-thru-1919-deaths\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1238\">Early thru 1919 Deaths<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 The deaths were indexed from the Courthouse records.&nbsp; Most contain the parents\u2019 names and residence of birth, along with the Volume and page number. \u201cThis information is not a legal vital record index. Inclusion of any information does not constitute legal verification of the fact of the event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/intents\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1248\">Intents<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 The Declaration of Intent was the first step in becoming a citizen, containing the most personal information.\u00a0 The next step was the Petition which was a form containing the immigrants name, two witnesses and the date.\u00a0 The third step was the Naturalization itself. Again a form signed by the immigrant and the Clerk of Court.\u00a0 These records are on film at McMillan Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/howgs.org\/index.php\/marriage-records\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1252\">Marriages<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 The marriages are to early 1940 and indexed by Groom and contain the date of marriage and the Volume and page number from the Courthouse. Remember many of the old spellings have changed through the years. \u201cThis information is not a legal vital record index.
