12/21/2019 “BLACK SHEEP, HEROES & SCOUNDRELS!”
The saying goes, if you’re easily embarrassed or afraid of what you’ll find, don’t start doing genealogy. Because eventually, you will find all manner of relatives — black sheep, heroes, villains, successes, failures, role models, and scoundrels.

Almost every family has one of these. Even though some of your ancestors might be embarrassing, especially to the generation who knew him, let us know who your heroes and scoundrels are. These characters can be the most interesting of our ancestors. Will a Salem Witch make an appearance? Come and join us! The business meeting will follow.

Also, new this year! After the business meeting, a question and answer period will take place for those members who want to stay and do some research. This should be a great opportunity for both seasoned and new members alike.

Join us for this special program. This event is free and open to the public.

Would you like to know more about your ancestors? Come to our Research Day and find out more about your family. Experienced volunteers will be there to give you assistance and answer your questions.

Don Schnitzler of Marshfield will give this presentation.

This program highlights some of the common mistakes made by genealogists researching their family history as well as strategies that help overcome them. Discussion topics include basic research methodologies (alternate records selection tables), documenting and citing sources, use of research logs, and planning for the future.
